The new fuel-injected format will see four consecutive standalone races in ocean swimming, paddling, trail running and mountain biking on Saturday that anyone can pick and choose from.

Sunday will feature the return of the traditional non-stop Augusta Adventure Race (28.8km) (formerly the MINI) with new distances and a new leg order for individuals and relay teams. Sunday will also see the return of the Act-Belong-Commit Junior Survivor obstacle and adventure run for kids.

The new format for the event’s 13th year means more participants can be part of the action, from runners who just want to do a trail run or swimmers just wanting to do a swim, through to those who want to do them all!

Each of the courses have been designed to take in the best of the spectacular natural landscapes – the 15km trail running race will start on the huge granite domes below Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse, the 15km ocean paddle race will go around an off-shore island, the 35km mountain bike will follow a fast and furious course through hinterland and a protected 2km ocean swim will start at picturesque Flinders Bay and swim the reefs and the beach.

Early feedback on the new-look event has been very encouraging and well-received with adventure racers looking forward to the new challenges the 2018 Augusta Adventure Fest will bring.

The return of the ‘standard’ adventure race has also been met with great applause with the new 1km swim, 6.6km coastal run, 15km mountain bike and 6km inlet paddle course still providing a great challenge for any multisport athlete.

Augusta Adventure Fest is organised by Rapid Ascent, a Victorian events management company that also conducts X-Adventure Dunsborough and the Margaret River Ultra Marathon, amongst many other off-road races around Australia.

General Manager Sam Maffett from Rapid Ascent said he was excited to be bringing the 13th edition of the race to Augusta.

“We love getting outdoors and racing off-road, and now with the new standalone races even more people will get to race through the magical wilderness ‘down south.

“We’re proud to be bringing new courses and new challenges for first timers and those who are returning to race again. It’s the same Augusta Adventure Fest that people know and love but with even more thrills and off-road action to be had. Look forward to seeing you all down south this November!”

Over 3,000 competitors, and 10,000+ spectators are expected to make the journey south to Augusta for Augusta Adventure Fest this November.

The 2017 event generated 22,450 bed nights for the region and a total economic impact of $15.5 million to the local economy, signifying it as a landmark event for the region. 83 percent of survey respondents in 2017 ranked the Augusta Adventure Fest as their Top 3 best event, and for 23 percent it was their first time competing.
