DOC Update Level 3
As you will be aware New Zealand moved into COVID-19 Alert Level 3 at 11.59pm on Monday 27 April.
We know this is a time of great uncertainty, and you will be wondering whether or not your business can get started again. This email is intended to provide you with the information you might need.
The golden rules for businesses at Alert Level 3 are described on the COVID-19 website. This site remains the single source of truth for all COVID-related information.
Visitor facilities on PCL remain closed under Alert Level 3. DOC huts, campgrounds and lodges are closed. People are still encouraged to spend time in nature and local conservation areas, and tracks may be used providing:
- It’s for low-risk activities
- 2-metre distancing is maintained
- Personal contact is limited to your bubble
- Any associated travel is kept local
DOC toilets remain closed and should not be used (and people should take all litter home with them). Under Alert Level 3, you should not undertake higher-risk or motorised recreation activities (such as boating or four-wheel driving) in public conservation areas.
This means that unfortunately, many concessionaires will not be able to restart their operations on conservation land under Alert Level 3.
Increased recreation opportunities, which may include concessionaire activities, are being reviewed for Alert level 2 and Alert level 1 and guidance is being developed. We will come back to you once we have information to share.
If you need to undertake urgent maintenance and/or repairs to equipment on conservation land, please contact your local Operations Director.
If you have any queries about your concession or permit contact your local Permissions Advisor or email email@example.com
We appreciate this may be a difficult time for many of you and DOC is committed to working with our concessionaires to get through.
