While some of the country's fastest ocean swimmers battled it out over a 1650m course in Thursday's Port Nelson swim, some up-and-coming competitors battled all the way to the line over the shorter 700m course.
Emily Chadderton has dominated over the shorter distance so far this season, while Noah Brehaut has got steadily closer. In the latest swim, the 13th in the series, the pair battled head-to-head over the entire distance, with Emily prevailing by two seconds at the finish. Lilly Claridge is consistently in the frame and took third place.
In the longer swim Oxford Bayley had his normal battle with Hayden Squance, taking out the win by two seconds, while Abbey Smale was placed third ahead of Ben Marshall and old geezer Hamish Neill (57).
Lucy Barron headed off Christina Harris around the last buoy, the pair taking second and third women’s spots.
