Proper Crisps Team Triathlon at Rabbit Island

After several natural disasters, the Proper Crisps Team Triathlon got underway at Rabbit Island on Sunday on a slightly altered course.

Team members completed a triathlon of  250m swim, 6km bike and 2km run before tagging the next team member.
It was no surprise that national triathlon champion Hayden Squance led his team to victory, Hayden recording the fastest individual time of 21 minutes 27 seconds for the triathlon.

Mum and dad, Carolyn and Charlie completed their triathlons in good time to hold off the team of Little Bigs Boys for the win by just over a minute.

Nelson's Masters Sportsperson of the Year Wayne Leighton is a world age group champion in cross triathlon and he was also feeling frisky, leading son and father combo Jobe and Todd McAuley to second.

Britta Martin has set course records in overseas Ironman races and she bounced out of the blocks for the first time in a few years to record the second fastest individual time of 25min 13sec, setting up her team mates Pogo McAuley and Candice Riley for third place overall.

Twins Adam and Joseph Clatworthy (13) led out their older brother Luke in a team called Clatterboys.
Luke was not there to muck around, the 14-year-old tearing through the field in 25min 17sec for the third quickest individual time to put his team into fourth place.

Several teams took the option of having a specialist swimmer, cyclist and runner repeating their disciplines and fittingly it was the sponsor's team of Ned Smith, Duncan Kerr and Andy Leonard who won this section ahead of Margaret Johnston, Tracey Heaven and Cordelia Woodhead.
