The team raced ahead of the field of 52 teams from the start line and never looked back over the four days it took for them to nail first place.

Leader Nathan Fa'avae said the race was hot and fast from the beginning at the Brewster Glacier with challenging weather in the mix.

“ We had a few nights in pretty exposed places like the Pisa and Garvie mountain ranges and so we were really grateful it was dry last night over the Old Man Range.

GODZone is always a great event, one that listens to racers and gets all the checkpoints and transitions in the right places so we have enjoyed it. We were really hoping that Kiwi teams would place first, second and third to show the international teams how we do it down here but it looks like the Spanish team Vidaraid may come in second.”

Seagate wins a team entry in the Adventure Racing World Championships being held in Brazil  in November this year along with the coveted GODZone trophy. They have won all four chapters since its inception.

Race Director Warren Bates says the team is fantastic representatives for New Zealand on the world stage of adventure racing and has a huge following of supporters.

“ Seagate have repeatedly proven that they are untouchable when it comes to GODZone and many of the adventure races on the international calendar.

They are world-class athletes and once again have proven to all other teams that they continue to race their own race at the very front, which makes them extremely hard to beat.”
